OLLE Student Registration Instructions

To further assist your learning throughout this course, the Communication Arts and Sciences has implemented a course management system and on-line learning environment. In order to successfully complete this course, you will need to utilize these resources. The following instructions will guide you through the initial set-up process. Your first assignment is to read the welcome letter so it is important that you register immediately. Please email your instructor if you experience any difficulty with the registration process.

1) In order to access the CAS100A website you must first purchase David Zarefsky’s Public Speaking: Strategies for Success. 4th ed. (custom edition) Boston: Allyn & Bacon, 2004. (This text is available at the campus bookstore)
2) The book will contain a registration card and a unique registration number
3) Go to http://cas.la.psu.edu/100a/reg.htm and click on register.
4) Enter your instructor's teacher ID which is his/her PSU ID followed by “cas” (i.e. jls826cas)
5) Fill in your information and then login to the OLLE web site.

After you have completed your registration, you can access the OLLE system.

One of your first assignments is to read the Welcome Letter. After reading the document, please print and submit to your instructor the sheet stating that you understand the goals of the course, purchased the book and filled in the registration number, understand the attendance policy, and agree to adhere to the university’s academic integrity policy.

Tips for using OLLE:

• The book codes are case sensitive. When entering your book number, pay close attention to the specifications of the code. If you have difficultly registering, try re-typing the code and its number and letters. In this example: uVlx9V56, the third item is one, not L. This often causes confusion.
• When logging into OLLE, remember to enter your full user name including the @psu.edu. If you correctly registered, you should not have to re-register at any time during the semester.
• After you have completed the readings on OLLE, you can select a link that will lead you to Angel. However, at certain times you may have to access both Angel and OLLE. The easiest way to navigate the system is by opening two windows and toggling between them.
